Nothing about Beedrill screams competitive powerhouse, and that's fine. Bug/Poison means only weak to Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Rock. The stat spread favors raw physical power. Been around since Gen 1.
Beedrill's spread isn't flashy. Attack leads, Defense trails, 2 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 3 Attack and Sp. Def EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It uses sharp, poisonous stings to defeat prey, then takes the victim back to its nest for food.
Beedrill Weakness
AvgBeedrill's Bug/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Psychic, and Rock moves. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Beedrill's special bulk (base 80 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def
Beedrill is the final form in a three-stage chain from Weedle through Kakuna. Breeding this form produces Weedle eggs (quick to hatch). Evolving from Weedle gave Beedrill the biggest boost in Sp.Def (+60), bringing the total to 395 stats.
How to Evolve
an ability isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Leftovers for passive recovery each turn and flexible EVs EVs, Beedrill fills the setup attacker slot reliably. A nature nature finishes the spread.

Without TMs, Beedrill's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Dark coverage on top of Sludge Bomb and Fury Cutter for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.
