Stats & Training

An unusually even spread gives Pidgey flexibility. Speed barely edges ahead. But Sp. Atk isn't far off. Easy to catch and follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve. Yields 1 Speed stat exp.

Pidgey Guide

  • Pidgey becomes Pidgeotto at level 18, then Pidgeot at level 36. Straight three-stage line with no branching.

  • Pidgey evolves into Pidgeotto at level 18. Early evolution, you'll hit it before the third gym in most games.

  • For Crystal, you can run Pidgey through the first few routes without issues. 251 BST won't carry you far though. Get it to Pidgeotto as fast as you can.

  • Pidgey is catchable in Crystal. Check the Locations section above for specific routes, encounter rates, and methods. It also appears in 18 other games across the series.

Game Availability

One of the original 151, Pidgey has appeared in 19 games — most mainline games. From Red & Blue through the latest titles, it's rarely been left out of a regional Pokedex.
