Is Flareon Good in FireRed & LeafGreen Playthrough?
Fire immunity and a damage boost from AbilityFlash Fire. The problem is the same as every game: Fire attacks use Special in Gen 3, and Flareon's strongest stat is physical Attack. Flash Fire is a great ability on a Pokemon that can't use its best number for its own type. The mismatch hasn't been fixed.
Transfer Only Pokemon reflect GBA cartridge availability via Link Cable from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. The Nintendo Switch remake will support these once Pokémon HOME transfer launches.

Flareon Weakness
Flareon is weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Flash Fire grants an additional Fire immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Flareon's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Flareon Evolutions
Eevee's line splits into 5 evolutions, and Flareon is the item path. Each sibling form needs a different method to obtain. Breed through Eevee to get eggs. Flareon and Vaporeon share the same 525 total stats, but they're distributed differently. Check the comparison below to see where each one specializes. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Flareon to get Eevee eggs (with patience) using 102 partners from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Charm, Curse, Endure and 3 more.
FRLG Flareon Best Moveset
130 Attack goes entirely to waste because all Fire moves use the Special stat, not Attack. 95 Sp. Atk fires Fire TermStab at moderate power from the wrong side. AbilityFlash Fire absorbs Fire hits for a boost. The moveset suffers from the format's type split: the strongest physical stat on any Fire type with no physical Fire moves to use it.

Moves List
Breeding opens up real options for Flareon. Charm and Curse come exclusively from egg moves, and they're worth the effort. The rest of the kit covers basics through Overheat and Fire Blast and Normal and Dark coverage and more.
