Smoliv sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Arboliva as fast as possible. Ghost moves can't touch it, which offsets the 6 weaknesses somewhat. Known as the Olive Pokemon.
Sp. Atk and Sp. Def carry most of Smoliv's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Easy to catch and yields 1 Sp. Atk EV. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It protects itself from enemies by emitting oil from the fruit on its head. This oil is bitter and astringent enough to make someone flinch.
This Pokémon converts nutrients into oil, which it stores in the fruit on its head. It can easily go a whole week without eating or drinking.
Smoliv Weakness
VulnerableSmoliv is weak to Fire, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Flying, and Bug-type moves. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses.
Three stages ahead. Smoliv grows into Dolliv, then pushes on to Arboliva. Check the evolution methods below. For breeding, average hatch time with plenty of partners via one egg group. Evolving adds up to 250 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Breed Smoliv easily with 73 breeding partners from the Plant egg group. Pass egg moves like Memento, Strength Sap, Synthesis and 1 more to offspring.
Smoliv runs a standard defensive wall set. Calm nature with a spread EV build EVs shapes the build, while Mirror Herb brings extra utility. Harvest supports the kit from the background.

Breeding opens up real options for Smoliv. Memento and Strength Sap come exclusively from egg moves, and they're worth the effort. The rest of the kit covers basics through Leaf Storm and Solar Blade and Ground coverage.

Smoliv is meant to evolve into Dolliv. At 260 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Smoliv's biggest threats include Volcarona (Fire), Baxcalibur (Ice), and Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Poison, Flying, and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Smoliv won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Smoliv evolves into Dolliv at level 25. Smoliv is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Early Bird is the go-to ability for Smoliv. It makes sleep pass twice as quickly. Its hidden ability Harvest can work in specific setups.
Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Smoliv is leaning toward the special side (base 58 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Smoliv can be found in Scarlet & Violet.
Smoliv joined the series in Scarlet & Violet and has been available in 1 titles so far. With 1 generation of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
