Sliggoo's spread favors special bulk over offense. Sp. Def leads the defensive side, Speed eats the cost. Yields 2 Sp. Def EVs per defeat. Slow 1.25M XP grind to level.
Its four horns are a high-performance radar system. It uses them to sense sounds and smells, rather than using ears or a nose.
Fighting and Ground moves hit Sliggoo for super-effective damage. The upside? Poison-type moves can't touch it at all. 9 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. Sap Sipper grants an additional Grass immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Sliggoo's special bulk (base 113 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Sliggoo is the middle stage between Goomy and Goodra. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with plenty of partners via one egg group. So far, Defense got the biggest boost (+48 from Goomy). The final form adds another 148 stats on top. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Sliggoo's built to absorb hits. Sassy nature leans into slow wall duty, Eviolite gives it a bulk boost that only works before full evolution, and Rest handles sustain. Sapsipper and max HP and Sp. Def EVs tie the defensive profile together.

Without TMs, Sliggoo's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get coverage across 7 types on top of Steel Beam and Draco Meteor for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.
Sliggoo's movepool balances level-up moves with TM options. Consistent STAB comes from Steel Beam and Draco Meteor, and Water and Poison coverage and more keeps opponents from switching in for free. No major gaps here.
Sliggoo develops a solid moveset just through leveling. Muddy Water and Blizzard show up naturally, and the progression handles both STAB and utility without leaning on TMs for the core attacks.

Sliggoo isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Goodra to unlock its full potential. At 452 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Run Sap Sipper on Sliggoo. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Sliggoo also gets Shell Armor and Gooey, but they don't compare.
Sliggoo fills the support role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 83 Sp. Atk). Base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Sliggoo first appeared in X & Y and spans 8 games across 5 generations. It later gained a Hisuian form in Generation 8, adding new dimensions to its competitive identity.
