Goomy sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Goodra as fast as possible. Known as the Soft Tissue Pokemon. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets.

Nothing fancy in Goomy's spread. It leans mixed with Sp. Def out front. And you'll get 1 Sp. Def EV per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.

Pokedex Entries

The weakest of all Dragon-type Pokémon, it’s unable to breathe if its skin dries out, so it sticks to shady places.

Sun

Its source of protection is its slimy, germ-laden mucous membrane. Anyone who touches it needs some thorough hand-washing.

Moon

Goomy Weakness

Avg

Goomy is weak to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. The Dragon typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Sap Sipper grants an additional Grass immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Goomy's special bulk (base 75 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Goomy kicks off a three-stage evolution line through Sliggoo all the way to Goodra. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with no compatible partners via one egg group. Evolving adds up to 300 stat points total.

Breeding opens up real options for Goomy. Acid Armor and Counter come exclusively from egg moves, and they're worth the effort. The rest of the kit covers basics through Draco Meteor and Dragon Pulse and coverage across 9 types.

  • At 300 BST, Goomy is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Sliggoo before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Goomy's biggest threats include Kyurem (Ice), Dragonite (Dragon), and Togekiss (Fairy), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. At base 40 Speed, Goomy won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Goomy can evolve into Sliggoo and Hisuian Sliggoo depending on the method. Goomy is the base form in a 5-stage evolutionary line.

  • Goomy gets Sap Sipper, Hydration, and Gooey. But Sap Sipper is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Goomy is leaning toward the special side (base 55 Sp. Atk). Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Goomy appears in 8 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Since X & Y, Goomy has been obtainable in 8 games. A Generation 6 debut means a shorter history, but Goomy has appeared steadily across every generation since.
