Stats & Training
Bulk defines Sealeo's stat line. HP and Sp. Atk anchor the defensive side, but Speed can't keep up offensively. Common in the wild and worth 2 HP EVs.
It has a very sensitive nose. It touches new things with its nose to examine them.
Be it Spheal or Poké Ball, it will spin any round object on its nose with the greatest of ease.
Sealeo Weakness
Sealeo is weak to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass, Fighting, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Ice |
In X & Y, Tyranitar can KO Sealeo with Stone Edge (174-205%). Hitmontop threatens a KO with Close Combat (145-171%).

X & Y Evolution
Partway through Spheal's chain. Sealeo still has another evolution ahead before reaching Walrein. For breeding, average hatch time with a massive partner pool via two egg groups. HP has grown the most so far (+20), but there's still another 120 stats to gain in the final evolution. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Sealeo to get Spheal eggs easily using 200 partners from the Ground and Water1 egg groups. Notable egg moves include Aqua Ring, Belly Drum, Curse and 10 more.

Moves
Egg moves make a real difference. Sealeo gets Aqua Ring and Belly Drum exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Normal and Ground coverage and more rounds out the picture alongside Blizzard and Ice Beam.

How to Get Sealeo in X & Y
Sealeo can't be caught in X & Y. Transfer Spheal from Ruby, Emerald, or Omega Ruby and evolve through the 2-stage line to get it. The step cards below map the full chain.
Sealeo Guide
Sealeo is meant to evolve into Walrein. At 410 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Thick Fat is what you want on Sealeo. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Ice Body, Oblivious) work on paper but Thick Fat is what makes Sealeo worth using.
Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Sealeo is a special attacker with base 75 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Game Availability
Available in 15 titles since its debut in Ruby & Sapphire, Sealeo spans 8 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in most mainline games.
