It rolls across ice floes to reach shore because its body is poorly shaped for swimming.

Spheal Weakness

Spheal's Ice/Water typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.

Spheal Guide

  • Sealeo at level 32 is the mid-stage. Push through to Walrein at level 44 for the final form. 290 BST right now won't cut it long-term.

  • Level 32 gets you Sealeo. Not the fastest evolution, so consider Exp. Share or route grinding to speed it up.

  • In Diamond & Pearl, Spheal does the job early-game if you need a Ice/Water type on your team. Evolve it into Sealeo before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

  • You can find Spheal in Diamond & Pearl. The Locations section has the full breakdown of routes and encounter details. It also appears in 14 other games across the series.

Game Availability

Spheal first appeared in Ruby & Sapphire and has been available in 15 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
