Is Sandslash Good in Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee Playthrough?

Exclusive to Let's Go Pikachu. Sandslash's Ground typing demolishes Blaine, contributes against Koga's Poison-types, and wrecks Giovanni's entire team. Good physical bulk keeps it useful through the Elite Four. One of the better version exclusives.

Sandslash Weakness

Sandslash is weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground. Watch out for Fire and Fighting attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. With 8 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Sandslash's physical bulk (base 120 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

LGPE Sandslash Best Moveset

100 Attack and 110 Defense on a pure Ground-type. Without AbilitySand Rush doubling Speed in sand or any held item to boost damage, the moveset hits hard physically but 65 Speed means going after almost everything. Physical power stranded behind slow pace.

Moves List

TMs carry this one. Sandslash learns Blizzard and Iron Tail naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and Fighting and beyond give it real matchup play.

Sandslash Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee Guide

  • In Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee, Slush Rush changes the entire equation for Sandslash. The 450 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier as a tank. Earthquake with Choice Band is the standard set.

  • In Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee, Sandslash's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Golem (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Charizard is the most dangerous since Fire moves deal 4x damage.

  • Slush Rush is what you want on Sandslash. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Snow Cloak) work on paper but Slush Rush is what makes Sandslash worth using.

  • At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Sandslash is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a tank.

  • For Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee, the core moveset is Earthquake, Knock Off, Rapid Spin, and Swords Dance. Earthquake leads at 0% usage. Earthquake provides reliable STAB damage.

Game Availability

Since debuting in Red & Blue, Sandslash has appeared in 20 titles over 10 generations. Along the way, it received an Alolan form in Generation 7, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
