Mid-stage Pokemon like Oddish rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Vileplume, which is where the real potential kicks in. Only weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic. Known as the Weed Pokemon.
Sp. Atk and Sp. Def carry most of Oddish's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Easy to catch and yields 1 Sp. Atk EV. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It may be mistaken for a clump of weeds. If you try to yank it out of the ground, it shrieks horribly.
Oddish Weakness
VulnerableOddish's Grass/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic moves. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Standard number of weaknesses for the Grass/Poison typing.
From here, Oddish's line branches into Vileplume and Bellossom. That's 2 possible evolutions, each with its own method. The evolved forms gain up to 170 total stats over Oddish.
How to Evolve

A solid spread overall. Oddish gets Solar Beam and Sludge Bomb for same-type damage alongside Fairy and Normal coverage. It won't blow anyone away, but it doesn't leave you stuck either.

high spawn rates in early-game routes across 11 locations. Oddish's one of the easier catches on the list. Knock it out fast and save your time for harder targets.
Best Locations
Oddish won't take long. 11 walking spots from Lv. 3-42 with solid rates across most of them. The top locations at each game stage are listed first.
Oddish is meant to evolve into Gloom. At 320 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Watch for Arcanine (Fire), Lapras (Ice), and Aerodactyl (Flying) when using Oddish. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem. At base 30 Speed, Oddish won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Oddish evolves into Gloom at level 21. Oddish is the base form in a 4-stage evolutionary line.
Chlorophyll is what you want on Oddish. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Run Away) work on paper but Chlorophyll is what makes Oddish worth using.
Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Oddish is a physical attacker with base 50 Attack. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
