It concentrates the weak electric charges emitted by its cells and launches wicked lightning bolts.

Jolteon Weakness

Jolteon's Electric typing leaves it vulnerable to Ground. Its Electric typing keeps the defensive matchups simple. Volt Absorb grants an additional Electric immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Jolteon's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Legends: Z-A Jolteon Best Moveset

Jolteon's locked into one move per switch-in with Choice Specs, trading flexibility for boosted special damage with move lock. Thunderbolt is the go-to spam option, with the remaining moves keeping switch-ins honest.

Without TMs, Jolteon's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get coverage across 8 types on top of Thunder and Thunderbolt for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

How to Get Jolteon in Legends: Z-A

Jolteon can't be caught in Legends: Z-A. Transfer Eevee from Red, Yellow, or Ultra Sun and evolve through the 2-stage line to get it. The step cards below map the full chain.

How to Obtain Jolteon in Legends: Z-A

Jolteon Guide

  • In Legends: Z-A, Don't let Jolteon's 525 base stat total fool you. Volt Absorb is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it A-Tier as a sweeper. Thunderbolt with Choice Specs is the standard set.

  • In Legends: Z-A, watch for Rhydon (Ground) when using Jolteon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Legends: Z-A, Run Volt Absorb on Jolteon. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Jolteon also gets Quick Feet, but they don't compare. With base 130 Speed, Volt Absorb gives Jolteon an edge before opponents can react.

  • In Legends: Z-A, Jolteon fills the sweeper role. It's a special attacker with base 110 Sp. Atk. Base 130 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Legends: Z-A, Jolteon has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

Game Availability

Jolteon has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 22 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
