Is Eelektrik Good in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Playthrough?

Mid-stage from Tynamo. AbilityLevitate still grants zero type weaknesses. Needs a Thunder Stone to evolve to Eelektross. The mid-stage is usable but unremarkable. The final form is the goal.

Eelektrik Weakness

Eelektrik's Electric typing leaves it vulnerable to Ground. Its Electric typing keeps the defensive matchups simple. Levitate grants an additional Ground immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.

Pokedex Entry

It wraps itself around its prey and paralyzes it with electricity from the round spots on its sides. Then it chomps.

These Pokémon have a big appetite. When they spot their prey, they attack it and paralyze it with electricity.

Eelektrik Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Guide

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Eelektrik isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Eelektross to unlock its full potential. At 405 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, watch for Garchomp (Ground) when using Eelektrik. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 40 Speed, Eelektrik won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Run Levitate on Eelektrik. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Eelektrik fills the trick room role. It's a mixed attacker with base 85 Attack and 75 Sp. Atk. Base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Eelektrik does the job early-game if you need a Electric type on your team. Evolve it into Eelektross before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

Game Availability

Introduced in Black & White, Eelektrik has appeared in 9 games across 6 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
