Stats & Training
Crawdaunt's built around physical offense. Attack leads the charge, Sp. Def pays for it. Common in the wild, worth 2 Attack EVs. Follows a standard growth curve.
A brutish Pokémon that loves to battle. It will crash itself into any foe that approaches its nest.

Crawdaunt Weakness
Type-wise, Crawdaunt takes extra damage from Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Bug. Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. 6 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. Crawdaunt's physical bulk (base 85 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass, Fighting, Bug |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Ice, Ghost, Dark, Steel |
| 0x (Immune) | Psychic |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Infernape can KO Crawdaunt with Close Combat (145-171%). Zapdos threatens a KO with Thunderbolt (142-167%).

Crawdaunt Guide
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Don't let Crawdaunt's 468 base stat total fool you. Adaptability is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a cannon. Crunch with Choice Scarf is the standard set.
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Run Adaptability on Crawdaunt. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Crawdaunt also gets Hyper Cutter and Shell Armor, but they don't compare.
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Crawdaunt fills the cannon role. It's a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For HeartGold & SoulSilver, the core moveset is Crunch, Waterfall, Superpower, and Xscissor. Crunch leads at 19% usage. Crunch provides reliable STAB damage.
