Stats & Training
The stat bars tell the story: Sp. Def carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Water Bubble Pokemon still yields 2 Sp. Def EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It usually passes its time in the water. When its belly is full, it stores its subdued prey in the water bubble on its head.
It has a habit of storing things it values in its water bubble. If its Trainer doesn’t watch out, Araquanid will try to put them in its bubble!
Araquanid Weakness
Araquanid is weak to Electric, Flying, and Rock. The Water/Bug typing picks up 5 resistances to work with. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Araquanid's special bulk (base 132 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.

Araquanid Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Araquanid looks average on paper at 454 BST. But Water Absorb is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier on our tier list. Liquidation with Focus Sash is the standard set.
Araquanid gets Water Absorb and Water Bubble. But Water Absorb is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Araquanid is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 42 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Water Absorb is the hidden ability. It absorbs water moves, healing for 1/4 max HP. Worth hunting for if you want Araquanid to compete at a higher level.
