Almost nobody uses Dewpider in battle. It exists to evolve into Araquanid, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Introduced in Gen 7. Only weak to Electric, Flying, and Rock.
Sp. Def and Defense carry most of Dewpider's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Easy to catch and yields 1 Sp. Def EV. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
When two Dewpider meet, they display their water bubbles to each other. Then the one with the smaller bubble gets out of the other’s way.
It can only breathe oxygen that has dissolved in water, so it wears a water bubble on its head when it walks around on land.
Dewpider Weakness
GoodDewpider's Water/Bug typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric, Flying, and Rock moves. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.
One evolution ahead. Dewpider grows into Araquanid through a straightforward two-stage chain. No compatible partners for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are quick to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 185 total stats over Dewpider.
How to Evolve
Breed Dewpider easily from the Bug and Water1 egg groups. Pass egg moves like Aurora Beam, Power Split, Spit Up and 2 more to offspring.

The natural movepool does the job, but Aurora Beam and Power Split from the egg pool give Dewpider something extra.

Dewpider is available from early-game water routes onward at high spawn rates. 8 encounter spots give you plenty of options. Grab one early and it'll be ready to evolve or train by mid-game.
Best Locations

Dewpider is meant to evolve into Araquanid. At 269 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Dewpider evolves into Araquanid at level 22. Dewpider is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Water Absorb is what you want on Dewpider. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Water Bubble) work on paper but Water Absorb is what makes Dewpider worth using.
Base 27 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Dewpider is a mixed attacker — base 40 Attack and 40 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Dewpider can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Dewpider joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 4 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
