Almost nobody uses Dewpider in battle. It exists to evolve into Araquanid, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Introduced in Gen 7. Only weak to Electric, Flying, and Rock.

Sp. Def and Defense carry most of Dewpider's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Easy to catch and yields 1 Sp. Def EV. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

It forms a water bubble at the rear of its body and then covers its head with it. Meeting another Dewpider means comparing water-bubble sizes.

Sword

Dewpider normally lives underwater. When it comes onto land in search of food, it takes water with it in the form of a bubble on its head.

Shield

Dewpider Weakness

Good

Dewpider's Water/Bug typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric, Flying, and Rock moves. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.

One evolution ahead. Dewpider grows into Araquanid through a straightforward two-stage chain. A decent partner pool for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are quick to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 185 total stats over Dewpider.

You commit to a move every time Dewpider comes in. Choice Scarf gives speed patching through item lock, and Waterbubble adds to that. A spread EV build EVs make sure the locked move actually hurts. The remaining moves covers the rest.

Dewpider doesn't appear in Scarlet & Violet. Transfer it from Sun, Ultra Sun, or Sword to add it to your collection. Check the source games below for encounter details.

Dewpider is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • Dewpider is meant to evolve into Araquanid. At 269 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Watch for Rotom (Electric), Salamence (Flying), and Rhyperior (Rock) when using Dewpider. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. At base 27 Speed, Dewpider won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Dewpider evolves into Araquanid at level 22. Dewpider is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Water Absorb is what you want on Dewpider. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Water Bubble) work on paper but Water Absorb is what makes Dewpider worth using.

  • Base 27 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Dewpider is a mixed attacker — base 40 Attack and 40 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Dewpider can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Dewpider joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 4 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
