Evolution made it even more devious. It communicates by clawing signs in boulders.

Fighting, Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy moves hit Weavile for super-effective damage. Fighting hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Psychic-type moves can't touch it at all.

Where To Catch Weavile in Scarlet & Violet

or evolve from Sneasel (Step 1)
  • Weavile works as a sweeper with 510 BST behind it. A-Tier on our list: a strong competitive pick. That 125 base Speed does the heavy lifting.

  • Watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting), Arcanine (Fire), and Heracross (Bug) when using Weavile. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Hitmonlee is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Rock, Steel, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Pressure increases the PP cost of moves targetting the Pokémon by one. That's the one you want on Weavile. Pickpocket is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Weavile is a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 125 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • Weavile has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

Since Diamond & Pearl, Weavile has been in 13 games. Requiring an item-based evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
