Stats & Training
The stat bars tell the story: Speed carries everything and Sp. Atk's dead weight. But this Sharp Claw Pokemon still yields 2 Attack and Speed EVs per fight on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
They attack their quarry in packs. Prey as large as Mamoswine easily fall to the teamwork of a group of Weavile.
With its claws, it leaves behind signs for its friends to find. The number of distinct signs is said to be over 500.
Weavile Weakness
Fighting, Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy moves hit Weavile for super-effective damage. Fighting hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Psychic-type moves can't touch it at all.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Fighting |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Bug, Rock, Steel, Fairy |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Ice, Ghost, Dark |
| 0x (Immune) | Psychic |
In Sword & Shield, Garchomp's Earthquake hits Weavile for 83-98%. Zapdos's Heat Wave hits Weavile for 68-80%. Mandibuzz deals 36-43% with U-turn.

Weavile Guide
In Sword & Shield, Weavile works as a sweeper with 510 BST behind it. A-Tier on our list: a strong pick in Sword & Shield's competitive scene. Knock Off with Heavy-Duty Boots is the standard set.
In Sword & Shield, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting), Arcanine (Fire), and Heracross (Bug) when using Weavile. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Hitmonlee is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Rock, Steel, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Pressure increases the PP cost of moves targetting the Pokémon by one. That's the one you want on Weavile. Pickpocket is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Weavile is leaning toward the physical side (base 120 Attack). Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 125 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.
For Sword & Shield, Weavile has answers, but so do you. Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.
Game Availability
Since Diamond & Pearl, Weavile has been in 13 games. Requiring an item-based evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
