Seadra Weakness

Electric and Grass moves hit Seadra for super-effective damage. Its Water typing keeps the defensive matchups simple. With 55 HP and balanced defenses, Seadra can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Without TMs, Seadra's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Ice coverage on top of Hydro Pump and Surf for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Seadra Guide

  • In Red & Blue, Seadra isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Kingdra to unlock its full potential. At 490 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • In Red & Blue, watch for Raikou (Electric) and Venusaur (Grass) when using Seadra. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • In Red & Blue, Horsea evolves into Seadra at level 32. Seadra evolves into Kingdra while holding a Dragon Scale. Seadra is a middle-stage evolution in the Horsea line.

  • In Red & Blue, Seadra fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 95 Special. Base 85 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • In Red & Blue, Seadra does the job early-game if you need a Water type on your team. Evolve it into Kingdra before the later gyms and it holds up fine through the story.

Game Availability

Seadra has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 20 titles across all 10 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
