While most trainers evolve Seadra into Kingdra immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Sits at a decent but contested Speed tier. Known as the Dragon Pokemon.
Seadra's built around special offense. Defense leads the charge, Sp. Def pays for it. Moderately hard to find, worth 2 Defense and Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Its spines provide protection. Its fins and bones are prized as traditional medicine ingredients.
Seadra Weakness
GoodElectric and Grass-type moves hit Seadra for super-effective damage. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Seadra's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
Seadra is partway through a three-stage line between Horsea and Kingdra. The chain involves a trade, so it's not a straightforward grind. So far, HP got the biggest boost (+25 from Horsea). The final form adds another 100 stats on top.
How to Evolve
Breed with Seadra to get Horsea eggs easily using 65 partners from the Dragon and Water1 egg groups.
Start with max Sp. Atk without Speed EVs. Modest nature gives Seadra the right special lean, Scopelens adds extra utility, and Sniper works in the background. Focusenergy is the main damage option.

Recommended Teammates
Without TMs, Seadra's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Dragon and Ice coverage and more on top of Hydro Pump and Muddy Water for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Seadra isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Kingdra to unlock its full potential. At 440 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Poison Point has a 30% chance of poisoning attacking Pokémon on contact — that's the one you want on Seadra. Damp is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Sniper works too if your team needs something different.
Seadra fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 95 Sp. Atk. Base 85 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many.
