Mega Evolution fills its body with a tremendous amount of electricity, but it's too much for Manectric to fully control.
Too much electricity has built up in its body, irritating Manectric. Its explosive speed is equal to that of a lightning bolt.

In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Intimidate changes the entire equation for Manectric. The 575 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a sweeper. Thunderbolt with Choice Scarf is the standard set.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Manectric can Mega Evolve into Mega Manectric. That's 675 BST, up from 575. The stat redistribution often changes its best role. Mega Stone required, one per battle.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Manectric's biggest threats include Rhydon (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Intimidate is what you want on Manectric. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. With base 135 Speed, Intimidate gives Manectric an edge before opponents can react.
Base 135 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. On offense, Manectric is a special attacker with base 135 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a sweeper.
