Mid-stage Pokemon like Gible rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Garchomp, which is where the real potential kicks in. Electric moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively. Known as the Land Shark Pokemon.

Nothing fancy in Gible's spread. It leans physical with Attack out front. And you'll get 1 Attack EV per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.

It skulks in caves, and when prey or an enemy passes by, it leaps out and chomps them. The force of its attack sometimes chips its teeth.

Scarlet

It nests in horizontal holes warmed by geothermal heat. Foes who get too close can expect to be pounced on and bitten.

Gible Weakness

Avg

Gible's Dragon/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy moves. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely.

Gible kicks off a three-stage evolution line through Gabite all the way to Garchomp. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with no compatible partners via two egg groups. The evolved forms gain up to 300 total stats over Gible.

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Gible's coverage across 7 types all comes from technical machines, built on top of Draco Meteor and Outrage for same-type damage. Take Down and Dragon Rush are the payoff moves.

No wild encounters for Gible in Legends: Z-A. It's available in Diamond, Platinum, or Scarlet and can be transferred over. The details below show where to find it.

Gible is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Catch in the wild in:

Then trade to Legends: Z-A.

Also found in:

  • At 300 BST, Gible is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Gabite before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Watch for Weavile (Ice), Garchomp (Dragon), and Clefable (Fairy) when using Gible. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Weavile is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage.

  • Gible evolves into Gabite at level 24. Gible is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Sand Veil increases evasion to 1.25× during a sandstorm — that's the one you want on Gible. Rough Skin is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Gible is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 42 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Gible appears in 14 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.

Debuting in Diamond & Pearl, Gible appears in 14 games across 6 generations. A reliable presence in a solid number of games, typically found through catching or hatching as a base form.
