Mid-stage Pokemon like Gible rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Garchomp, which is where the real potential kicks in. Electric moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively. Known as the Land Shark Pokemon.

AvgGible's Dragon/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy moves. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely.
Gible kicks off a three-stage evolution line through Gabite all the way to Garchomp. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with no compatible partners via two egg groups. The evolved forms gain up to 300 total stats over Gible.

Sand Veil increases evasion to 1.25× during a sandstorm — that's the one you want on Gible. Rough Skin is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Gible is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 42 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
