Clefable's normal typing gives it an immunity to Ghost. Only 1 weaknesses on top of that — it has plenty of safe switch-in opportunities. A competitive option since Gen 1. It relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up.
Clefable's spread isn't flashy. HP leads, Speed trails, 3 stats clear the bar. Very hard to catch and worth 3 HP EVs, on a fast 800K XP curve.
A timid fairy POKéMON that is rarely seen. It will run and hide the moment it senses people.
Clefable Weakness
GoodClefable is weak to Fighting-type moves. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. With 95 HP and balanced defenses, Clefable can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
Clefable is the evolved form of Cleffa, reached using a Moon Stone. A Normal type at 483 stats that still can't breed. Evolving from Cleffa gave Clefable the biggest boost in Sp.Atk (+50), bringing the total to 483 stats.
How to Evolve
For an attacker, Clefable wants flexible EVs EVs and an item. The a nature nature tilts toward balanced duty, and an ability contributes without taking a move slot.

TMs define Clefable's movepool. The natural moves cover basics with Hyper Beam and Skull Bash, but the real versatility comes from technical machines giving it coverage across 7 types. That's where the options open up.

Step 2Clefable ✓
Don't let Clefable's 483 base stat total fool you. Magic Guard is what makes it tick — it punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier.
Clefable's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Clefable fills the balanced role. It's a special attacker with base 95 Sp. Atk. At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Clefable appears in 22 games, including Yellow, Red & Blue, and Gold & Silver.
Clefable has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 22 titles across all 9 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
