As a Grass-type, Cherrim fills a straightforward role. 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Known as the Blossom Pokémon. Introduced in Gen 4. Sits at a decent but contested Speed tier.

Sp. Atk and Speed carry most of Cherrim's stat budget. Attack's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

After absorbing plenty of sunlight, Cherrim takes this form. It’s full of energy while it’s like this, and its liveliness will go on until sundown.

Sword

The faint scent that emanates from its full blossom entices bug Pokémon to it.

Cherrim leads with Focus Sash insurance. Even if it can't take a hit naturally, it'll survive long enough to deal early damage. Max Attack and Speed EVs go all-in on offense since bulk doesn't matter here.

  2. Cherrim
    Step 2Cherrim
  • We rate Cherrim C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. At 450 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly.

  • Watch for Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Roserade (Poison) when using Cherrim. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Cherubi evolves into Cherrim at level 25. Cherrim is the fully evolved form. It sits at 450 BST in its evolved form.

  • Flower Gift increases friendly Pokémon's Attack and Special Defense to 1.5× during strong sunlight — that's the one you want on Cherrim. It's the only ability Cherrim has.

  • Base 85 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Cherrim is leaning toward the special side (base 87 Sp. Atk). Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Cherrim appears in 12 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.

Available in 12 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Cherrim spans 6 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through wild encounters in a solid number of games.
