Ampharos Evolutions
End of the line. Ampharos caps a three-stage chain that started at Mareep. Breeding produces the base form, and eggs are average hatch time. Sp.Atk grew the most through evolution (+100 over Mareep), and Ampharos peaks at 610 total stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.

USUM Ampharos Best Moveset
115 Sp. Atk with AbilityStatic threatening paralysis on contact. Mega Ampharos adds Dragon typing and reaches 165 Sp. Atk, but 45 base Speed remains 45 even in Mega form. The moveset hits hard from a standstill. D-tier through devastating special power that 45 Speed prevents from ever acting first.

Moves List
Leveling does the heavy lifting. Ampharos picks up Zap Cannon and Take Down along the way, building toward a complete offensive set. TMs add coverage across 8 types, but the foundation's already strong by then.

A small dot on the icon's corner marks the move as contact. That triggers abilities like Static, Flame Body, Rough Skin, or Iron Barbs, plus items like Rocky Helmet and Sticky Barb.
Tier (S to D)
Each move's competitive rank in RankedBoost's system. TM, Egg, and Tutor sort by tier by default (best first). On Level-Up, click the Tier header to do the same.

Excess energy from Mega Evolution stimulates its genes, and the wool it had lost grows in again.
Massive amounts of energy intensely stimulated Ampharos's cells, apparently awakening its long-sleeping dragon's blood.
Ampharos Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Mold Breaker changes the entire equation for Ampharos. The 610 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as a wallbreaker. Hiddenpowerice with Assault Vest is the standard set.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Ampharos can Mega Evolve into Mega Ampharos. That's 710 BST, up from 610. The stat redistribution often changes its best role. Mega Stone required, one per battle.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, watch for Cloyster (Ice), Golem (Ground), and Kingdra (Dragon) when using Ampharos. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. Ampharos has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Mold Breaker is what you want on Ampharos. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. On wall sets, Mold Breaker pairs with Ampharos's base 105 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.
Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Ampharos is a special attacker with base 165 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a wallbreaker.
Game Availability
Since debuting in Gold & Silver, Ampharos has appeared in 17 titles over 9 generations. Along the way, it received a Mega form in Generation 6, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
