Is Entei Good in FireRed & LeafGreen Playthrough?
Fire legendary — Bulbasaur-starter FRLG players get Entei as their native roamer; the other two starter paths have to trade one in. AbilityPressure doubles PP consumption. High Attack, but Fire is Special in Gen 3. The phys/spec mismatch affects Entei's Fire damage. Impressive stats on a conflicted typing. On original GBA cartridges the trade came in from Gold, Silver, Crystal, or Pokemon Colosseum via Link Cable. On the 2026 Switch re-release trades run over Switch local wireless — but since Colosseum isn't re-released on Switch, the only Switch-era source for an off-starter Entei is another FRLG-Switch player who picked Bulbasaur and caught theirs.
Entei resists most of Brock's coverage and hits back hard.
Entei trades roughly evenly with Misty's team.

How to Get Entei in FireRed & LeafGreen
If Bulbasaur was your starter pick, Entei roams Kanto at level 50 after clearing Team Rocket on Five Island. Catch rate 3, no respawn if the roam ends in a KO or flee. On original GBA cartridges a known bug called the Roar glitch could erase the beast permanently if it successfully used Roar on your Pokemon — a save-ruining exploit most players learned the hard way. The 2026 Nintendo Switch re-release patches the Roar glitch, so Entei stays in the roaming pool until caught no matter what happens in battle.
