Stats & Training

You won't find a real weakness in Zubat's stat line. It's well-rounded for the Bat Pokemon, and what it does with that depends on moveset and items. Yields 1 Speed stat exp, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Zubat Weakness

Electric, Ice, Psychic, and Rock moves hit Zubat for super-effective damage. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all.

Moves

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Zubat's Bug and Dark coverage and more all comes from technical machines, built on top of Wing Attack for same-type damage. Double-Edge and Take Down are the payoff moves.

Zubat Guide

  • Golbat at level 22 is the mid-stage. Push through to Crobat by leveling up for the final form. 255 BST right now won't cut it long-term.

  • Level 22 gets you Golbat. Not the fastest evolution, so consider Exp. Share or route grinding to speed it up.

  • In Red & Blue, For a casual playthrough, Zubat works as a placeholder. Poison/Flying coverage is useful early. The real payoff is Golbat. That's where the stats start mattering.

  • You can find Zubat in Red & Blue. The Locations section has the full breakdown of routes and encounter details. It also appears in 20 other games across the series.

Game Availability

Present since Red & Blue, Zubat appears in 21 games spanning 10 generations. Gen 1 originals like Zubat have the longest track record of availability in the series.
