Yellow

Tauros Weakness

Tauros is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. Tauros's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Moves

Most of Tauros's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Hyper Beam and Skull Bash, but Ice and Ground and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

Tauros Guide

  • In Yellow, Tauros works as a sweeper with 520 BST behind it. S-Tier on our list: one of the best picks in the Yellow meta. Body Slam anchors the moveset.

  • In Yellow, Tauros's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Tauros is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • In Yellow, the best way to handle Tauros: Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

  • For Yellow, the core moveset is Body Slam, Hyper Beam, Earthquake, and Blizzard. Body Slam leads at 25% usage. This set covers the sweeper role with a mix of damage and utility.

Game Availability

Available since Red & Blue, Tauros appears in 20 games spanning 10 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Paldean form in Generation 9.
