Stats & Training
Nothing fancy in Tauros's spread. It leans physical with Speed out front. And you'll get 2 Attack and Speed EVs per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
They fight each other by locking horns. The herd’s protector takes pride in its battle-scarred horns.
After heightening its will to fight by whipping itself with its three tails, it charges at full speed.
Tauros Weakness
Tauros is weak to Fighting. On the flip side, it's immune to Ghost-type moves entirely. Tauros's physical bulk (base 95 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Tauros Guide
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Tauros looks average on paper at 490 BST. But Intimidate is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier sweeper on our tier list. Outrage with Choice Band is the standard set.
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Tauros's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Tauros gets Intimidate, Anger Point, and Sheer Force. But Intimidate is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. With base 110 Speed, Intimidate gives Tauros an edge before opponents can react.
Tauros is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Sheer Force is the hidden ability. It strengthens moves with extra effects to 1.3× their power, but prevents their extra effects. Worth hunting for if you want Tauros to compete at a higher level.
