Is Swampert Good in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Playthrough?

Water/Ground with only Grass as a weakness. MoveEarthquake handles Molayne's Steel E4, Water covers Olivia and Hapu, and the move tutors give Swampert MoveIce Punch for Flying coverage. No Mega Stone, but base Swampert is one of the safest Pokemon you can run.

Swampert Weakness

Swampert is weak to Grass. Watch out for Grass attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Electric-type moves entirely. The Water/Ground typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Swampert's overall bulk (100/110/110) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Swampert Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Guide

  • In the Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon meta, Swampert already has 635 BST going for it, and Swift Swim pushes the competitive value even higher. B-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list. Earthquake with Leftovers is the standard set.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, yes. Mega Swampert is the evolved form, sitting at 735 BST. Big power spike over base Swampert (635). Equip the Mega Stone and it transforms in battle.

  • In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Swampert's biggest threats include Breloom (Grass), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Breloom is the most dangerous since Grass moves deal 4x damage. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Swampert has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.

  • Swampert gets Swift Swim. But Swift Swim is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. On wall sets, Swift Swim pairs with Swampert's base 110 Defense to absorb physical hits on the switch.

  • Swampert is a mixed attacker with base 150 Attack and 95 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 70 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.

Game Availability

Available since Ruby & Sapphire, Swampert appears in 16 games spanning 8 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6.
