Shaymin Platinum Guide
In Platinum, Shaymin is a Mythical Pokemon rated B-Tier. At 600 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a sweeper. Seedflare with Leftovers is the standard set.
Shaymin is a static encounter at Flower Paradise in Platinum. Shaymin appears at level 30. Prerequisite: Requires Oak's Letter. Save before the encounter. These one-shot Pokemon don't respawn if you knock them out or run out of Poke Balls.
In Platinum, Shaymin's biggest threats include Lapras (Ice), Charizard (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Lapras is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Serene Grace is the go-to ability for Shaymin. It doubles the chance of moves' extra effects occurring. It's Shaymin's only ability.
In Platinum, Shaymin fills the sweeper role. It's a special attacker with base 120 Sp. Atk. Base 127 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Game Availability
As a Mythical Pokemon, Shaymin has limited availability — 12 games since its debut in Diamond & Pearl. Typically obtained through special events or in-game quests rather than standard encounters.
