What separates Roserade from the pack is Natural Cure — it clears status conditions when it switches out. Combine that with Grass/Poison typing and it sits at a decent but contested Speed tier. Only weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic.
Everything pushes toward special damage here. Roserade's Sp. Atk does the work, Defense pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Sp. Atk EVs per KO. Moderately hard to find, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Each of its hands contains different toxins, but both hands can jab with near-fatal power.
Roserade Weakness
VulnerableRoserade's Grass/Poison typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic moves. The Grass/Poison typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Roserade's special bulk (base 105 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Roserade evolved from Budew's chain using an evolution item. It's a non-standard trigger, so check the details below. Breed this form to get Budew eggs (average hatch time). The evolution from Budew pushed Roserade to 505 total stats. Sp.Atk saw the largest single gain at +75.
How to Evolve
Breed with Roserade to get Budew eggs easily using 35 partners from the Fairy and Plant egg groups. Notable egg moves include Cotton Spore, Extrasensory, Leaf Storm and 6 more.
Bulk and offense in one package. Roserade runs Black Sludge for Poison-type passive recovery with a Timid nature, so it survives long enough to threaten with Toxic Spikes. Max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs and the remaining moves make it hard to safely switch into.

Can't catch Roserade directly. Start with Budew at solid rates from the locations below, then evolve through a special method. The 3-stage chain from Budew to Roserade is where the leveling time goes.
How to Obtain Roserade in Platinum
Budew is your first catch on the way to Roserade. You'll find walking encounters from Lv. 8-50 across 20 total spots in the chain.

Step 3Roserade ✓
Roserade looks average on paper at 505 BST. But Natural Cure is why it sees play — build around that and it pulls its weight. B-Tier wallbreaker on our tier list.
Watch for Infernape (Fire), Lapras (Ice), and Aerodactyl (Flying) when using Roserade. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem.
Roserade gets Natural Cure, Poison Point, and Technician. But Natural Cure is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. Natural Cure synergizes with Roserade's base 105 Sp.Def, letting it soak special attacks as a pivot.
Roserade is leaning toward the special side (base 125 Sp. Atk). Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 90 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.
Roserade appears in 13 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.
Since Diamond & Pearl, Roserade has been in 13 games. Requiring an item-based evolution to obtain means it's consistently available but requires more effort than simply catching it in the wild.
