Grass gives Shaymin strong STAB coverage, and its stat spread wastes nothing on the offensive side. It clears the crowded base-100 Speed benchmark. A competitive force since Gen 4. 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Known as the Gratitude Pokemon.

Shaymin's stats barely vary. 6 sit in respectable range with no real gaps. It's a blank slate for EV investment. Worth 3 HP EVs, 1.06M XP medium-slow curve to max.

Shaymin Weakness

Fragile

Shaymin is weak to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug-type moves. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Shaymin's overall bulk (100/100/100) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Bulk and offense in one package. Shaymin runs Leftovers for passive recovery each turn with a Timid nature, so it survives long enough to threaten with Seedflare. Max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs and the remaining moves make it hard to safely switch into.

TMs define Shaymin's movepool. The natural moves cover basics with Seed Flare and Solar Beam, but the real versatility comes from technical machines giving it Normal and Psychic coverage. That's where the options open up.

HARD
  • Shaymin is a Mythical Pokemon rated B-Tier on our tier list. At 600 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a sweeper. Base 100 HP is where it shines.

  • Shaymin's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Cloyster (Ice), and Crobat (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Shaymin has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.

  • Shaymin doesn't evolve. As a Mythical Pokemon, it stands on its own without an evolutionary line. It's a Grass type with 600 BST.

  • Run Natural Cure on Shaymin. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. With base 100 Speed, Natural Cure gives Shaymin an edge before opponents can react.

  • Shaymin fills the sweeper role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 100 Attack). Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.

  • Shaymin appears in 12 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.

As a Mythical Pokemon, Shaymin has limited availability — 12 games since its debut in Diamond & Pearl. Typically obtained through special events or in-game quests rather than standard encounters.
