Sableye Best Moveset
Dark/Ghost at 50/75/75/65/65 with AbilityPrankster giving priority to all status moves. No weaknesses before Gen 6 Fairy, but Fairy exists now and hits super-effectively. Held ItemLeftovers with NatureImpish runs priority MoveWill-O-Wisp, MoveRecover, and MoveKnock Off. The moveset disrupts through priority status instead of stats. Tera Normal adds the Ghost immunity without losing Prankster.
Dark/Ghost with no weaknesses in Gen III (Ruby & Sapphire) since Fairy didn't exist. But 75 across the board meant it couldn't threaten or wall anything effectively.
Wall Moveset
- Recover
- Knock Off
- Seismic Toss
- Psych Up
Recommended Teammates
Same zero-weakness typing, same terrible stats in Gen IV (Diamond & Pearl). A gimmick typing that couldn't back it up with performance.
Wall Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Recover
- Brick Break
- Shadow Sneak
Recommended Teammates
Prankster arrived and everything changed in Gen V (Black & White). Priority Will-O-Wisp, Recover, Taunt, Knock Off. Sableye disrupted teams before they could act.

Fairy typing gave Sableye its first-ever weakness in Gen VI (X & Y). Mega Sableye with Magic Bounce was incredible, but base Sableye took a hit from the new type matchup.
Wall Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Recover
- Taunt
- Knock Off
Recommended Teammates
Mega Sableye was decent but base form fell in Gen VII (Sun & Moon). Fairy-types were everywhere, and Prankster was nerfed to fail against Dark-types.
Physical Tank Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Recover
- Taunt
- Knock Off
Recommended Teammates
No Mega form in Gen VIII (Sword & Shield). Prankster was useful but 75 base stats couldn't survive the format's power level.
Wall Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Recover
- Trick
- Metronome
Recommended Teammates
Same in Gen IX (Scarlet & Violet). Prankster kept it from being completely useless, but 75 in every stat was too low to contribute meaningfully.
Wall Moveset
- Will O Wisp
- Encore
- Recover
- Knock Off

Sableye Weakness
Type-wise, Sableye takes extra damage from Fairy. Normal, Fighting, and Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Sableye's overall bulk (50/125/115) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fairy |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Poison |
| 0x (Immune) | Normal, Fighting, Psychic |

Base Stats
The stat bars tell the story: Defense carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Darkness Pokemon still yields 2 Attack and Defense EVs per fight on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It hides in the darkness of caves. Its diet of gems has transformed its eyes into gemstones.
Sableye Guide
Sableye looks average on paper at 480 BST. But Magic Bounce is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. B-Tier support on our tier list.
Yes. Mega Sableye is the evolved form, sitting at 580 BST. Big power spike over base Sableye (480). Equip the Mega Stone and it transforms in battle.
Sableye's biggest threats include Clefable (Fairy), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 20 Speed, Sableye won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Sableye gets Magic Bounce. But Magic Bounce is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Sableye is a physical attacker with base 85 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 20 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the support role.
Game Availability
Available since Ruby & Sapphire, Sableye appears in 16 games spanning 8 generations. Beyond its original form, it gained a Mega form in Generation 6.
