Rolycoly's stats barely vary. 0 sit in respectable range with no real gaps. It's a blank slate for EV investment. Worth 1 Defense EV, 1.06M XP medium-slow curve to max.
On sunny days, Rolycoly will come out onto grassy plains and roll around. Then it will eat the grass that gets tangled in its wheel-like leg.
Chunks of the surface of this Pokémon’s body that have grown old and flaked off have long been used for fuel as an alternative to coal.

You can catch Rolycoly through 4 walking encounters from Lv. 5-23, but availability differs between Scarlet and Violet. Some spots are exclusive to one version.
Rolycoly isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Carkol to unlock its full potential. At 240 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Watch for Milotic (Water), Kartana (Grass), and Urshifu (Fighting) when using Rolycoly. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Ground and Steel-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 30 Speed, Rolycoly won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Rolycoly evolves into Carkol at level 18. Rolycoly is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Run Flash Fire on Rolycoly. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Rolycoly also gets Steam Engine and Heatproof, but they don't compare.
Rolycoly fills the hazard setter role. It's a special attacker with base 40 Sp. Atk. Base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Rolycoly can be found in Scarlet & Violet and Sword & Shield.
Introduced in Sword & Shield, Rolycoly has appeared in 2 games across 2 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
