SASSY NATURE CALCULATOR

Natures weren't part of the series until Generation III (Ruby & Sapphire), so Yellow doesn't have them. Every stat is calculated from base stats, IVs (called DVs back then), and Stat Experience alone. If you're looking for the Sassy nature's stat effect, switch the game filter above to any Gen III or later title. That said, the concept still helps with planning teams for remakes like FireRed & LeafGreen or HeartGold & SoulSilver, where natures do apply.

BEST SASSY NATURE POKEMON

Sassy boosts Sp. Defense by 10% and drops Speed. For slow walls and Trick Room special tanks, that Speed cut is a bonus. In Yellow, Porygon, Flareon, Gloom, and others all run Sassy in competitive play. Natures weren't in Yellow. Competitive players apply Sassy when breeding these Pokemon in Gen 3+ games.

Sassy raises Sp. Defense by 10% and lowers Speed by 10%. Slow special walls, often paired with Trick Room. 11 Pokemon competitively run this nature.

SASSY FAQs

What does the Sassy nature do in Pokemon?
Sassy raises Sp. Defense by 10% and lowers Speed by 10%. At level 100 with full investment, that's roughly a 30-point swing on the boosted stat. Pokemon with Sassy nature prefer Bitter flavor and dislike Sweet.
What are the best Sassy nature Pokemon?
Top Sassy users include Porygon, Flareon, Gloom, and Tangela. They benefit from the Sp. Defense boost because their main damage comes from that stat. The Speed drop doesn't hurt them since they don't rely on it.
Is Sassy a good nature for competitive Pokemon?
Sassy is a strong competitive nature. The -Speed drop actually helps under Trick Room, where slower Pokemon move first. The key is matching it to Pokemon that don't need Speed in their moveset.
How do I get a Sassy nature Pokemon?
Synchronize is the fastest method. Lead with a Pokemon that has Synchronize and Sassy nature, and wild encounters match it (Gen 3+). Breeding works too: give the Sassy parent an Everstone and all offspring inherit the nature. Nature Mints (Gen 8+) let you change the stat effect to Sassy without rebreeding.
Should I use Sassy or Calm?
Sassy prioritizes Trick Room special wall, while Calm goes for standard special wall. Pick Sassy when your Pokemon's role depends on the stat it boosts. Go with Calm when standard special wall matters more for your team.
