Ghost moves don't affect Hypno at all — that's the advantage of Psychic typing. It relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up. Known as the Hypnosis Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.
Bulk defines Hypno's stat line. Sp. Def and HP anchor the defensive side, but Speed can't keep up offensively. Moderately hard to find and worth 2 Sp. Def EVs.
Avoid eye contact if you come across one. It will try to put you to sleep by using its pendulum.
Hypno Weakness
ExcellentHypno has no type weaknesses thanks to its unique defensive typing. The upside? Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all.
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
You get Hypno from Drowzee at level 26. This Psychic type hits 483 total but remains in the Undiscovered group. Sp.Atk grew the most through evolution (+30 over Drowzee), and Hypno peaks at 483 total stats.
How to Evolve
The recommended build leans into Hypno's strengths as an attacker. An item provides extra utility, and flexible EVs EVs back that up. An ability rounds out the package.

At base 67 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Hypno is a special attacker with base 73 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a support.
