Stats & Training
Raw HP carries Kangaskhan's bulk more than the defenses do. Special barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A tough to catch Parent Pokemon that yields 2 HP stat exp on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
Raises its young in its belly pouch. Won’t run from any fight to keep its young protected.
Kangaskhan Weakness
Kangaskhan's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Kangaskhan's physical bulk (base 80 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Fighting |
| 0x (Immune) | Ghost |
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split

Kangaskhan Guide
For Yellow, we rate Kangaskhan C-Tier: a niche pick in Yellow's meta. At 450 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Earthquake anchors the moveset.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Yellow, but Kangaskhan does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Kangaskhan hits 550 BST.
In Yellow, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Kangaskhan. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Base 90 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Kangaskhan is a physical attacker with base 95 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For Yellow, Kangaskhan has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Fighting-type attackers hit hardest.
Game Availability
Since debuting in Red & Blue, Kangaskhan has appeared in 20 titles over 10 generations. Along the way, it received a Mega form in Generation 7, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
