Raw HP carries Kangaskhan's bulk more than the defenses do. Special barely registers. But that HP pool covers for it. A tough to catch Parent Pokemon that yields 2 HP stat exp on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Yellow

Kangaskhan Weakness

Kangaskhan's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Kangaskhan's physical bulk (base 80 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Kangaskhan Guide

  • For Yellow, we rate Kangaskhan C-Tier: a niche pick in Yellow's meta. At 450 BST, the stats are spread pretty evenly. Earthquake anchors the moveset.

  • Mega Evolution isn't available in Yellow, but Kangaskhan does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Kangaskhan hits 550 BST.

  • In Yellow, watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Kangaskhan. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Base 90 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Kangaskhan is a physical attacker with base 95 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • For Yellow, Kangaskhan has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Fighting-type attackers hit hardest.

Game Availability

Since debuting in Red & Blue, Kangaskhan has appeared in 20 titles over 10 generations. Along the way, it received a Mega form in Generation 7, keeping it relevant across different competitive metas.
