Lurantis's stats are solid on their own, but Contrary is what pushes it over the line. It reverses stat changes — what should be a debuff becomes a boost. 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Known as the Bloom Sickle Pokemon.

Attack and Defense carry most of Lurantis's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

This Pokémon resembles a beautiful flower. A properly raised Lurantis will have gorgeous, brilliant colors.

Sword

The petals on this Pokémon’s arms are thin and super sharp, and they can fire laser beams if Lurantis gathers light first.

Shield

Lurantis Weakness

Fragile

Type-wise, Lurantis takes extra damage from Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. That's a lot of weak spots to cover so team support is important.

Nothing fancy here. Lurantis builds around Leftovers for passive recovery each turn, Hardy nature for the right stat lean, and HP-heavy investment EVs. Contrary does its job quietly.

Recommended Teammates

The egg pool carries weight here. Aromatherapy and Defog aren't available any other way for Lurantis, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Leaf Storm and Solar Blade for solid options.

You're catching Fomantis first, not Lurantis. Fomantis appears at decent rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.

How to Obtain Lurantis in Sword & Shield

Fomantis is your first catch on the way to Lurantis. You'll find walking encounters from Lv. 10-21 across 20 total spots in the chain.

  2. Lurantis
    Step 2Lurantis
  • Contrary changes the entire equation for Lurantis. The 480 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked B-Tier as an attacker.

  • Lurantis's biggest threats include Volcarona (Fire), Lapras (Ice), and Gengar (Poison), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Fomantis evolves into Lurantis at level 34. Lurantis is the fully evolved form. At 480 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Contrary is what you want on Lurantis. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Leaf Guard) work on paper but Contrary is what makes Lurantis worth using.

  • Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Lurantis is a physical attacker with base 105 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as an attacker.

  • Lurantis can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Lurantis joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 4 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
