Stats & Training
Latios's built around special offense. Sp. Atk leads the charge, HP pays for it. Near-impossible to catch, worth 3 Sp. Atk EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
A highly intelligent Pokémon. By folding back its wings in flight, it can overtake jet planes.
Latios Weakness
Ice, Bug, Ghost, Dragon, and Dark moves hit Latios for super-effective damage. 6 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. Levitate grants an additional Ground immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Latios's special bulk (base 110 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |

| 2x (Weak) | Ice, Bug, Ghost, Dragon, Dark |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Fighting, Psychic |

- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Latios Guide
For the Platinum meta, At 600 BST, Latios is built different. We rank it A-Tier. As a Legendary Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a sweeper.
Mega Evolution isn't available in Platinum, but Latios does have a Mega form in Gen 6-7 games (X/Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon). Mega Latios hits 700 BST.
In Platinum, watch for Lapras (Ice), Heracross (Bug), and Misdreavus (Ghost) when using Latios. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Dragon and Dark-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
In Platinum, Run Levitate on Latios. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. With base 110 Speed, Levitate gives Latios an edge before opponents can react.
In Platinum, Latios fills the sweeper role. It's a special attacker with base 130 Sp. Atk. Base 110 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
