Stats & Training
The stat line revolves around HP. Percentage recovery gets extra mileage here. Sp. Def backs it up, though Speed doesn't pull its weight. Worth 2 HP stat exp on a slow 1.25M XP grind to max out.
They have gentle hearts. Because they rarely fight, many have been caught. Their number has dwindled.
It ferries people across the sea on its back. It may sing an enchanting cry if it is in a good mood.
Lapras Weakness
Lapras's Water/Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock. Lapras's overall bulk (130/80/95) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Grass, Fighting, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Ice |

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Lapras's Normal and Dragon coverage and more all comes from technical machines, built on top of Hydro Pump and Blizzard for same-type damage. Ice Beam and Hydro Pump are the payoff moves.

Lapras Guide
In Gold & Silver, Lapras brings 535 BST to the table. C-Tier on our list: a niche pick in Gold & Silver's meta. Ice Beam with Leftovers is the standard set.
Lapras is a special attacker with base 85 Sp. Atk. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often.
In Gold & Silver, run Ice Beam, Confuseray, Surf, and Thunder on Lapras. Ice Beam is the most common pick at 21% usage. Surf provides reliable STAB damage.
For Gold & Silver, Lapras has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Electric, Grass, and Fighting-type attackers hit hardest.
