Groudon Weakness
Groudon's Ground/Fire typing leaves it vulnerable to Water and Ground. Water hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. The Ground/Fire typing picks up 5 resistances to work with. Groudon's physical bulk (base 160 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Water |
| 2x (Weak) | Ground |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Fire, Poison, Bug, Steel, Fairy |
| 0x (Immune) | Electric |

Base Stats
The stat bars tell the story: Attack carries everything and Sp. Def's dead weight. But this Continent Pokemon still yields 3 Attack EVs per fight on a slow 1.25M XP grind.
This is Groudon's true form, restored using the Red Orb. Energy spills from its body in the form of magma.
Groudon Guide
At 770 BST, Groudon is built different. We rank it S-Tier. As a Legendary Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a wallbreaker.
Watch for Milotic (Water) and Swampert (Ground) when using Groudon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Milotic is the most dangerous since Water moves deal 4x damage. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Groudon has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Desolate Land creates extremely harsh sunlight, which has all the properties of Sunny Day, cannot be replaced, and causes damaging Water moves to fail. That's the one you want on Groudon. It's the only ability Groudon has.
Groudon is a physical attacker with base 180 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 90 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. Fits the wallbreaker role.
Groudon has answers, but so do you. Status moves (Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) wear it down. Setup sweepers can use it as a boost opportunity. Special attackers bypass its physical bulk.
Game Availability
Since Ruby & Sapphire, Groudon has appeared in 16 games. Legendary Pokemon like Groudon are usually found through story events or special post-game areas rather than random encounters.
