Nothing about Glaceon screams competitive powerhouse, and that's fine. Ice means only weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. Been around since Gen 4. Relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up.

Glaceon's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, Attack trails, 3 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Sp. Atk EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Any who become captivated by the beauty of the snowfall that Glaceon creates will be frozen before they know it.

Sword

The coldness emanating from Glaceon causes powdery snow to form, making it quite a popular Pokémon at ski resorts.

Glaceon Weakness

Fragile

Glaceon's Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel moves. 4 weaknesses is about average, nothing too hard to play around.

Icebody isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Leftovers for passive recovery each turn and max Sp. Atk without Speed EVs, Glaceon fills the defensive wall slot reliably. Bold nature finishes the spread.

Recommended Teammates

The natural movepool does the job, but Curse and Detect from the egg pool give Glaceon something extra. Pair those with Blizzard and Ice Beam for STAB and coverage across 7 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

You're catching Eevee first, not Glaceon. Eevee appears at moderate rates in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.

How to Obtain Glaceon in Sword & Shield

To get Glaceon, start by catching Eevee through walking encounters at Lv. 14-65. The chain covers 1 catchable stage before reaching the final form.

  2. Glaceon
    Step 2Glaceon
  • Glaceon has a 525 base stat total and ranks as B-Tier — a solid choice for the right team. It works best as a wallbreaker. Base 130 Sp. Atk is where it shines.

  • Watch for Infernape (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Glaceon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Eevee evolves into Glaceon using a Ice Stone. Glaceon is the final evolution in a 9-stage line starting from Eevee. At 525 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Snow Cloak increases evasion to 1.25× during hail — that's the one you want on Glaceon. Ice Body is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Glaceon fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 130 Sp. Atk. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Glaceon appears in 14 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.

Glaceon has been available in 14 games since Diamond & Pearl, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
