Nothing about Glaceon screams competitive powerhouse, and that's fine. Ice means only weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel. Been around since Gen 4. Relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up.
Glaceon's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Atk leads, Attack trails, 3 stats clear the bar. Tough to catch and worth 2 Sp. Atk EVs, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
By controlling its body heat, it can freeze the atmosphere around it to make a diamond-dust flurry.
Glaceon Weakness
FragileGlaceon's Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel moves. 4 weaknesses is about average, nothing too hard to play around.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Out of 8 evolutions from Eevee, Glaceon comes from the item path. The method you use determines which form you end up with. Breed through Eevee to get eggs. Both Glaceon and Vaporeon hit 525 total stats from Eevee. The difference is how those stats are split.
How to Evolve
Breed with Glaceon to get Eevee eggs (with patience) using 180 partners from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Charm, Covet, Curse and 10 more.
Icebody isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Chopleberry for extra utility and max HP and Sp. Atk EVs, Glaceon fills the special attacker slot reliably. Quiet nature finishes the spread.

The natural movepool does the job, but Charm and Covet from the egg pool give Glaceon something extra. Pair those with Blizzard and Ice Beam for STAB and coverage across 7 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

Transfer Moves
Glaceon isn't available in the wild in Black & White. Start by transferring Eevee from Red, Yellow, or Ultra Sun. The evolution path from Eevee to Glaceon is covered in the steps below.
Glaceon has a 525 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. It works best as a wallbreaker. Base 130 Sp. Atk is where it shines.
Watch for Infernape (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Glaceon. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.
Snow Cloak increases evasion to 1.25× during hail — that's the one you want on Glaceon. Ice Body is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Glaceon fills the wallbreaker role. It's a special attacker with base 130 Sp. Atk. At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Glaceon appears in 14 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.
Glaceon has been available in 14 games since Diamond & Pearl, though obtaining it requires an item-based evolution. This extra step makes it less common than Pokemon found through standard wild encounters.
