Fearow Best Moveset
Fast physical attacker at 100 Speed with 90 Attack and hidden AbilitySniper spiking critical hit damage. Normal and Flying TermStab give the moveset offensive coverage, but 65 HP across 65/61 defenses means anything faster or with priority ends it before the second hit.
Normal/Flying with Drill Peck was fine but nothing special in Gen I (Red & Blue). Dodrio had higher Attack, and Fearow couldn't separate itself from the flock.

- Drill Peck

Recommended Teammates
Still just an average Normal/Flying attacker. The metagame in Gen II (Gold & Silver) had bigger threats to worry about.

- Double Edge
- Hyper Beam

Choice Band turned Fearow into a surprising wallbreaker in Gen III (Ruby & Sapphire). Drill Peck and Return hit hard off a boosted Attack stat.

Choice Band was still an option but new Flying-types with better stats and abilities showed up. Fearow's time in the spotlight was short.
Physical Tank Moveset
- Drill Peck
- Fly

Power creep caught up completely in Gen V (Black & White). Faster, stronger attackers made Fearow irrelevant in any tier that mattered.

Sniper as an ability didn't help enough. Fearow was outclassed from every angle by Gen VI (X & Y).
Physical Sweeper Moveset
- Drill Run
- Drill Peck
- Steel Wing

Nothing changed for the better. Talonflame had Gale Wings, Staraptor hit harder. Fearow had no niche left.

Fearow Weakness
Type-wise, Fearow takes extra damage from Electric, Ice, and Rock. Ground and Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. At base 100 Speed, Fearow outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Electric, Ice, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Grass, Bug |
