Zweilous is technically a pre-evolution of Hydreigon, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Psychic moves can't touch it, which offsets the 5 weaknesses somewhat. Known as the Hostile Pokemon. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets.

Attack and HP carry most of Zweilous's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.

While hunting for prey, Zweilous wanders its territory, its two heads often bickering over which way to go.

Sword

Their two heads will fight each other over a single piece of food. Zweilous are covered in scars even without battling others.

Shield

Zweilous Weakness

Vulnerable

Type-wise, Zweilous takes extra damage from Fairy, Ice, Fighting, Bug, and Dragon. Watch out for Fairy attacks, those deal 4x damage. Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong.

Partway through Deino's chain. Zweilous still has another evolution ahead before reaching Hydreigon. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with plenty of partners via one egg group. HP has grown the most so far (+20), but there's still another 180 stats to gain in the final evolution.

Hard to wall, honestly. Zweilous threatens 10 types beyond its own STAB, with Normal and Ground standing out. Pair that with Outrage and Dragon Rush and switchins need to think twice.

    CHALLENGING
or evolve from Deino (Step 1)
  • Zweilous is meant to evolve into Hydreigon. At 420 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Zweilous's biggest threats include Gardevoir (Fairy), Kyurem (Ice), and Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Gardevoir is the most dangerous since Fairy moves deal 4x damage. Bug and Dragon-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50. Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Zweilous is a middle-stage evolution in the Deino line.

  • Hustle is the go-to ability for Zweilous. It strengthens physical moves to inflict 1.5× damage, but decreases their accuracy to 0.8×. It's Zweilous's only ability.

  • At base 58 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Zweilous is a physical attacker with base 85 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Zweilous appears in 8 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Zweilous joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
