Zweilous is technically a pre-evolution of Hydreigon, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Psychic moves can't touch it, which offsets the 4 weaknesses somewhat. Known as the Hostile Pokemon. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets.
Attack and HP carry most of Zweilous's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
After it has eaten up all the food in its territory, it moves to another area. Its two heads do not get along.
Since their two heads do not get along and compete with each other for food, they always eat too much.
Zweilous Weakness
GoodType-wise, Zweilous takes extra damage from Ice, Fighting, Bug, and Dragon. Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Partway through Deino's chain. Zweilous still has another evolution ahead before reaching Hydreigon. For breeding, takes forever to hatch with a decent partner pool via one egg group. HP has grown the most so far (+20), but there's still another 180 stats to gain in the final evolution.
How to Evolve
Breed with Zweilous to get Deino eggs using 39 partners from the Dragon egg group. Notable egg moves include Assurance, Astonish, Dark Pulse and 7 more.

The egg pool carries weight here. Assurance and Astonish aren't available any other way for Zweilous, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Draco Meteor and Outrage for solid options.

Step 2Zweilous ✓
Zweilous is meant to evolve into Hydreigon. At 420 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Hustle is the go-to ability for Zweilous. It strengthens physical moves to inflict 1.5× damage, but decreases their accuracy to 0.8×. It's Zweilous's only ability.
At base 58 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Zweilous is a physical attacker with base 85 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Zweilous appears in 8 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.
Zweilous joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
