Stats & Training
Tropius's spread favors balanced defenses over offense. HP leads the defensive side, Speed eats the cost. Yields 2 HP EVs per defeat. Slow 1.25M XP grind to level.

Tropius Weakness
Ice, Fire, Poison, Flying, and Rock moves hit Tropius for super-effective damage. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. The upside? Ground-type moves can't touch it at all.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Ice |
| 2x (Weak) | Fire, Poison, Flying, Rock |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Water, Fighting |
| 0.25x (Resist) | Grass |

- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)

Black & White Evolution
Tropius is what you get. No evolutions, but it breeds through two egg groups with plenty of partners. Hatching is average hatch time. It's got 12 egg moves worth looking into. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed Tropius easily with 57 breeding partners from the Plant and Monster egg groups. Pass egg moves like Bullet Seed, Curse, Dragon Dance and 9 more to offspring.
Black & White Tropius Best Moveset
Defense and Sp. Def investment EVs and Impish nature turn Tropius into a wall that doesn't fold easily. Sitrus Berry brings a one-time health recovery at low HP for the long game, and the moveset handles sustain. Harvest fills in the gaps.

Tropius Guide
In Black & White, Don't let Tropius's 460 base stat total fool you. Chlorophyll is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier. Air Slash with Sitrus Berry is the standard set.
In Black & White, watch for Lapras (Ice), Charizard (Fire), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Tropius. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Lapras is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Flying and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
In Black & White, Run Chlorophyll on Tropius. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Tropius also gets Solar Power and Harvest, but they don't compare.
In Black & White, Tropius fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 72 Sp. Atk). At base 51 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
For Black & White, Tropius has answers, but so do you. Super-effective STAB from faster Pokemon is the simplest answer. Ice, Fire, and Poison-type attackers hit hardest.
