Mid-stage Pokemon like Tinkatink rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Tinkaton, which is where the real potential kicks in. Poison and Dragon moves can't touch it, and only 2 types hit it super-effectively. Known as the Metalsmith Pokemon.

Tinkatink's spread isn't flashy. Sp. Def leads, Sp. Atk trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 1 Sp. Def EV, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

It swings its handmade hammer around to protect itself, but the hammer is often stolen by Pokémon that eat metal.

This Pokémon pounds iron scraps together to make a hammer. It will remake the hammer again and again until it’s satisfied with the result.

Fortress

Fire and Ground-type moves hit Tinkatink for super-effective damage. The upside? Poison and Dragon-type moves can't touch it at all. 9 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that.

Tinkatink develops a solid moveset just through leveling. Play Rough and Steel Beam show up naturally, and the progression handles both STAB and utility without leaning on TMs for the core attacks.

Tinkatink doesn't appear in Legends: Z-A. Transfer it from Scarlet to add it to your collection. Check the source games below for encounter details.

Tinkatink is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Catch in the wild in:

Then trade to Legends: Z-A.

  • Tinkatink isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Tinkatuff to unlock its full potential. At 297 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Watch for Infernape (Fire) and Excadrill (Ground) when using Tinkatink. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Tinkatink evolves into Tinkatuff at level 24. Tinkatink is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Run Mold Breaker on Tinkatink. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Tinkatink also gets Own Tempo and Pickpocket, but they don't compare.

  • Tinkatink fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 45 Attack). At base 58 Speed, it won't be moving first often. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Tinkatink can be found in Legends: Z-A and Scarlet & Violet.

Introduced in Scarlet & Violet, Tinkatink has appeared in 2 games across 1 generation. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
